Jazz Town
My name is Patch and I play the Trumpet.
The night we played in Little Rock this big Bruiser yelled at Pete, “What are doin’ up there makin’ out with this nice little white girl? We don’t cotton to no niggers makin’ out with our white girls.”
Pete yelled back, “If you had eyes in your head, you can tell I’m not a . . .” but before he could finish, this guy and his friends jumped on the stage and yanked Pete to his feet. Bedlam followed. I got lucky and ended up in jail instead of at the end of a rope.
Jazz Town tells the true-to-life story of music, sex and crime in an era and place famous for both: Kansas City.

Nice. Makes me want to read the book … and there it is … on my desk looking back at me. Tonight?
Thanks. Hope you enjoy.
Our book club choose this book for several reasons, we live in the Kansas City area, and one of our members had heard Beth speak about Jazz Town and thought our group would love it…and we did! This was a fun read, loved the character development, and it proves that Kansas City was and is a great place to live! Thanks Beth for the jazz history of our community!
Hey Sharon,
Thanks for the great review.
Best as always,
Beth
